WARRINGTON Town have been handed a huge boost by the news of Dylan Vassallo signing a contract with the club.

The 19-year-old midfielder put in some hugely impressive performances since arriving at Cantilever Park, attracting the attention of Premier League and Football League clubs in the process.

He attended several trials at professional clubs, but he has committed his immediate future to Yellows and manager Paul Carden expressed his delight with the news.

Carden says Vassallo has a big future in the game, but that his best chance of achieving his potential is by playing first-team football.

“For us to get him on a contract is brilliant,” he said.

“I look at it as an opportunity to work with a player who is an asset to the club, who wants to be at the club and who looks at his future and says I want to play here, and I want to get my move based on how I’m playing for Warrington, rather than going here, there and everywhere on trial.

“Some of the stuff he can do with the ball is unbelievable.

“People have seen it at Premier League clubs where he’s been on trial lately and it was good he went into those places on trial, because he’s seen that there were players playing at those levels that he was actually better than.

“He’s a top young talent, he’s not 20 yet, and I believe he’ll go a long way in the game.”

Meanwhile, the club has invited all players that finished the season back for pre-season training with the view to earning new deals, with the exception of Steven Gillespie and Danny Ventre, who have moved on.

Winger Scott Harries has also left the club to join Lancaster City.
