WARRINGTON Town will look to continue their play-off push this afternoon when they welcome Stafford Rangers to Cantilever Park, kick off 3pm.

As teams around them catch up with their games in hand, Yellows have dropped out of the Evo-Stik Premier Division’s top five but only goal difference keeps them below Buxton in the final play-off spot.

Today, they host a Rangers side who arrive in Cheshire determined to finish a job they started five months ago.

This fixture was originally played on December 17 and the visitors raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Richard Batchelor and Mitch Tolley.

However, after a heavy blanket of fog enveloped Cantilever Park during the interval, the referee decided visibility was too poor to continue and abandoned the game after 55 minutes.

A LOOK AT THE OPPOSITION:

PRIOR to Saturday’s defeat to runaway league leaders Blyth Spartans, Stafford had shown signs of finishing their season well after a five-game unbeaten run.

Despite an inconsistent campaign that sees them sitting 15th in the league table, Rangers have a happy knack of taking points from promotion-chasing sides.

Since the turn of the year, they have won on the road at Nantwich and Buxton as well as taking a point from Whitby Town.

ONES TO WATCH:

Warrington Town – Scott Bakkor: Having arrived from Colwyn Bay prior to the transfer deadline, the Warrington-born attacker scored his first goal for the club at Barwell on Saturday.

Strong and direct in his running with the ball, Bakkor will be a big threat to the Rangers defence.

Stafford Rangers – Kyle Perry: In the early stages of December’s abandoned game, Yellows’ defence simply could not cope with the big striker.

Perry, who has had a nomadic career in non-league football, used his size and power to bully the Town defence. They have improved markedly of late, but they will still need to keep an eye on the 31-year-old.
