WARRINGTON Town boss Paul Carden says Saturday’s 2-0 win over Barwell was “a massive, massive three points.”

Despite seeing striker Dan Hattersley sent off, Yellows secured victory thanks to Craig Stanley’s own goal and Scott Bakkor’s first for the club.

Carden says the failure of their Evo-Stik Premier Division play-off rivals, such as Buxton, Stourbridge, Spennymoor and Whitby, to pick up maximum points makes their effort look even better.

“I think only us and Blyth Spartans were the only teams in the top seven or eight to win,” he said.

“That makes it bigger still. It’s a massive, massive three points for us.

“We had to get back to winning ways after losing to Spennymoor. It was vital that we won and we did that.

“They had one or two half-chances in the first half and so have we, but its fortunate how we’ve taken the lead through a mistake from their centre-half.

“That gave us something to hold onto and I’m glad we’ve managed to do that despite going a man down.

“We’ve got ourselves into a never-say-die spirit. We keep fighting right until the end and you have to do that at this stage of the season.”
