WARRINGTON Town have a tough weekend schedule of two games in three days, but boss Paul Carden is confident his squad can cope.

Yellows welcome Halesowen Town to Cantilever Park on Saturday, kick off 3pm, before making the trip to Stourbridge on Monday night, kick off 7.45pm.

However, Carden says it is nothing his players have not dealt with before.

“That’s football at the end of the day. We’ve all played Bank Holiday weekends and over Christmas where we’ve got many games in a short space of time,” he said.

“We’ve got a reasonable squad so I’m confident we can get through it.

“We’ll do all the right things in training before Saturday’s game, we’ll recover as best we can on the Sunday before the Stourbridge game on Monday.”

Town go into the game sitting 13th in the Evo-Stik Premier Division table and keen to close the gap to the play-off places, which currently stands at 11 points.

Saturday’s opponents sit below them in 18th while Stourbridge, who reached the third round of this season’s FA Cup, are challenging for promotion in fourth.

“Halesowen are a bit like us in a way, they will win a couple then lose a couple,” Carden said.

“They’ve pulled some impressive results out of the bag then had losses you didn’t really see coming.

“Stourbridge did brilliantly in the cup and are a dangerous side. I watched them earlier in the season and they are clinical when chances do come.

“We have to be ready for that and make sure we take our opportunities when they are afforded to us.”

Lewis Codling returns from suspension for Saturday’s game, but Mitch Duggan will miss both games with a hamstring injury.

Carden’s side bounced back from Saturday’s 3-1 league defeat at Workington with a victory by the same scoreline over Witton Albion in the Cheshire Senior Cup quarter finals.

After falling behind early, goals from Danny Hattersley, Ruben Jerome and Ciaran Kilheeney earned them a last-four tie with Nantwich Town.

Before the game, Carden had told his players to be “ruthless” in both boxes and was delighted with the response.

He was also pleased with a first goal in Town colours for striker Jerome.

“I said to the lads and I’ve been saying to Craig Robinson and Mark Beesley, we’ve had spells in most games since we’ve been here where we’ve created chances and not taken them.

“That was definitely the case at Workington, but we weren’t ruthless enough in front of goal.

“I told the lads to be ruthless in both boxes and they definitely showed that at Witton.

“Ruben has got all the attributes you want in a striker but has the tendency to flit in and out of games.

“I told him not to worry about winning headers, to let Danny Hattersley take care of that and for him to use his pace and power.

“I’m delighted he got his goal and I hope that serves him well going forward.”
