Hednesford Town 1 Warrington Town 0
PAUL Carden's Warrington Town could not make it three victories in a row as they were defeated by play-off rivals Hednesford Town.
The Yellows could have leapt into the Evo-Stik Premier Division play-off places with victory, but Ashley Sammon's penalty just before half-time proved crucial.
The spot-kick was awarded after Lewis Codling was adjudged to have fouled David McDermott and Sammon made him pay despite keeper Tony McMillan's best efforts.
Town's day then got worse in first half stoppage time when Mitch Duggan was shown a straight red card for a tackle on Tony Clarke.
The Yellows, who drop to seventh as a result, return to action on Saturday when they welcome Stafford Rangers to Cantilever Park, kick off 3pm.
Warrington Town: McMillan, Duggan, McKeown, Ventre, Robinson, McCarten, Codling (Carden 46), Toner (Kinsella 58), Hattersley, Ilesanmi (Metcalfe 77), Harries. Subs not used: Shaw, Kilheeney
