WARRINGTON Town manager Stuart Mellish handed a run out to all his new signings in the first pre-season friendly at home to Football League Two side Carlisle United.

Stiker James Dean, brought in from Chorley, midfielder Scott Harries (Clitheroe), winger Sean Clancy (Telford) and defender Andrew Nicholas (Marine) featured in last night's 4-0 loss.

Mike Grogan, now a permanent signing from Telford after time at the club on loan last term, appeared in defence in Town's first pre-season encounter as Mellish prepares his men for their first assault on the Evo-Stik League Premier Division.

United were 3-0 ahead by half time, courtesy of strikes from Jason Kennedy, Danny Grainger and Reggie Lambe, and then a number of changes were made at the break before Charlie Wyke concluded the scoring in the 70th minute.

The Yellows return to the field on Saturday when they visit Brickfield Rangers, followed by a trip to Colne on Tuesday.

Town: Wills, Grogan, Nicholson, Ventre, McCarten, O’Donnell, Harries, Kinsella, Kilheeney, Dean, Clancy. Subs: Gillespie, Deegan, Young, Rudge, Codling, Smith, Kale, Flay.
