WARRINGTON Town boosted their promotion hopes with a 3-2 win at Mossley on Saturday.

The Yellows got the better of five first-half goals to climb to third in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North.

Chris Gahgan opened the scoring, with Steven Gillespie and Ciaran Kilheeney also netting in a frantic first 45 minutes to seal Shaun Reid's side the points.

Town opened the scoring in the 13th minute after Gillespie’s shot was parried into Gahgan's path for the diminutive winger to finish.

The hosts were level within two minutes, Warrington failed to clear a free kick and Luke Horrocks sneaked in at the back post to blast past keeper Karl Wills.

The Yellows regained their advantage on 23 minutes when Kilheeney flicked on Wills’ long clearance to Gahgan, who found Gillespie with space to header into the net.

Mossley were level again four minutes later as Ryan Marley bundled the ball into the net.

However it was the visitors who took the lead for a third time moments later, with Scott Metcalfe's cross being poked goalwards by Gillespie and Kilheeney adding the finishing touch.
