FOOTBALL mad teenagers collecting their GCSEs today have the chance to pursue their career with Warrington Town.

The Yellows are one of a number of Northern Premier League clubs to offer a programme where players can train and play alongside their studies.

NPL Football Academy is a full time education and football progamme for 16 to 18 year olds for Evo-Stik League clubs – and Town will be participating for the first time this year.

Students study for a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport for two years, train every day with a UEFA qualified coach and have the chance to play for Warrington Town.

They will also compete in the FA Youth Cup, with the programme being based at Cantilever Park.

Students will need 5 GCSEs at A* to C, which must include Maths and English.

Pathways from the NPLFA include opportunities to play first team football (five players made their semi-professional debuts at 16 years of age last season), head to university or enrol on a scholarship in the USA.

Town currently have 18 players signed up for the scheme, but are seeking two to three more.
