WARRINGTON Town chiefs say tireless recruitment work behind the scenes has paid off in the signature of two strikers.

Manager Shaun Reid has brought in Golden Boot winner Lee Gaskell from Ramsbottom and one of his previous players Steven Tames from Hyde United.

Gaskell, aged 29, was the Evo-Stik First Division North's 'Golden Boot award' winner with Ramsbottom last season, finishing top scorer with 29 goals as the team won promotion via the play-offs.

Tames, aged 22, joins from Hyde United after starring with Vauxhall Motors last season, scoring 11 goals in 25 games.

Gaskell, who recently returned from injury at Ramsbottom and spent seven years with Bury, is not cup tied.

Both players will be in contention for tonight's league game at Salford.

Club chairman Toby Macormac said: “We were looking to strengthen our attacking options in the squad and when we heard these players were available we worked tirelessly behind the scenes to secure their services.

"Shaun knows plenty about Tames having managed him earlier in his career and our club has been on the receiving end of Gaskell’s scoring prowess.

"Shaun admires both of these players and I’m certain his choices will reap the benefits for the club as we look to progress up the table."
