WARRINGTON Town chairman Toby Macormac says there are pros and cons to a home or away tie in the second round of the FA Cup.
But he acknowledged that a home draw might be the Yellows’ best chance of a stunning appearance in the third round, when the might of English football enter the competition.
“People have been saying do you want home or away,” said Macormac, general manager of Eddie Stobart, who afforded him some time off to focus on the hefty planning and preparations required to stage Friday night’s televised first-round giant-killing against League Two side Exeter City.
“It’s a tough call. The amount of work that goes into putting on a home tie is phenomenal, but for nights like Friday it is worth doing.
“Or do you look at the financial aspect and take an away game? It depends who you get in the draw.
“I suppose the key thing in the second round draw is that you are only 90 minutes away from the third round (when the Premier League and Championship clubs enter) and you’ve really got to take that into consideration.
“The pitch was a leveller on Friday night. The crowd were fantastic, a proper 12th man for us. And it was a great event.”
Macormac will be joined by Town manager Shaun Reid at the second round draw at the National Football Museum in Manchester on Monday night.
The draw will be broadcast live on BBC2 from 7pm.
