THE lucky fans who managed to secure one of the hottest tickets in town for Warrington Town’s FA Cup clash tonight are in for a night to remember – but spare a thought for those not so lucky.

Initially, 2125 tickets were allocated to home fans at the ticket launch on Monday.

Fans, young and old, queued up at Cantilever Park – hoping that they would not hear the dreaded words ‘sold out’.

One such fan who had his attempts to secure a ticket dashed was Chris Slater.

After scurrying across town during his lunch break, the 22-year-old took his place in the queue but after around 45 minutes he was given the dreaded news and is now optimistic the Yellows will reach the next round so he has another chance to see his hometown in action.

“I was devastated when I missed out on a ticket – I have been living here for 16 years now and feel that I should be part of it,” said Chris, formerly of Appleton and now living in the town centre.

“Now I think that me and my friends are going to have to watch the match on top of Cantilever Bridge with some binoculars.

“I think we will win. I really hope so because the FA Cup coming to Warrington is a rare thing and I really want to be part of it.”

Despite the initial disappointment, Chris, who works as an estate agent, has a solution to ensure he doesn’t go without a ticket if Shaun Reid’s men continue their fairytale.

“If we go through then next time I am going to take the day off so that I get a ticket,” he added.
