WARRINGTON Town’s youngsters marched on in the FA Youth Cup after beating their Macclesfield Town counterparts last night.
Town won 2-1 in the competition’s first qualifying round thanks to goals from Niall Ford and Ben Collins.
Ford opened the scoring from a Josh Hayes free kick, but the hosts levelled before half time.
However, Collins would become the hero of the hour when he finished from Callum Wallace’s cheeky back heel after 60 minutes.
The Yellows will visit Skelmersdale United in the next round in a fortnight.
It continues a promising start to the season for the youth team, who have recovered after losing the first match at home to Ashton Athletic.
Town have gone on to beat Altrincham 2-0, draw with Chester 3-3, beat Curzon Ashton 2-0 and Morecambe 1-0 at home to leave them sitting third in the North West Youth Alliance Premier Division.
The under 17s began their defence of the Cheshire Youth Cup with a resounding 5-0 win over Princes Villa from Ellesmere Port in the last 32. Will Armstrong scored four with Alex Stott completing the rout.
