GRAPPENHALL Football club are on the up.
A new manager and coach have lifted them off the bottom of the Cheshire Football League Second Division.
Matthew Topping, Grappenhall’s new manger, and UEFA licensed coach John Ferguson have turned around the club’s fortunes and breathed new life into a squad that had lost all of their first six fixtures.
Since the pair have taken over, the team’s record has significantly improved which has been attributed to modern training techniques and the recovery of several key players from injury.
Grappenhall’s vice-captain David Coyne is delighted with progress achieved.
He said: “Matt and John have forged a great relationship and have fostered a more mature attitude in the first team squad, which has been reflected in their results.”
Since the pair have taken over, the team have won five, drawn four and lost just two games, pushing them up to a mid-table position.
Their last few games have been postponed due to the severe cold snap but hope to take to the field at home to Malpas on Saturday.
