EAGLE took all three points against Billinge on a very heavy Thornton Road pitch in Saturday’s Cheshire League Division one fixture.

The home side were well worth the victory and at times played some controlled football on the difficult surface.

Eagle took the lead on the half hour with a good individual goal set up by captain Rob Hope, playing in an unfamiliar role alongside goal-scorer Daniels.

Billinge should have equalised just before the break but missed the empty net from six yards out.

Eagle went further ahead when Daniels turned provider to square the ball for Thompson to tap in.

Billinge were never going to salvage anything from the game as Eagle continually had them under pressure for long periods and held on for a deserved victory.

Eagle: White, Nixon, Derefaka, Chinn, Williams G, Thompson, Topping, Higgins (Reid), Williams N, Hope, Daniels (Gallagher). Subs not used: Collins, Gaskell, Lawson.
