Orford BA 2 Eagle Sports 3
ORFORD Blackburne Arms made Eagle Sports fight all the way before the Cheshire League side marched into the Guardian Cup second round thanks to a late winner on Saturday.
Arms led 2-1 with less than 15 minutes to go and were looking confident of extending their lead as numerous gilt-edged chances were created.
But the arrival of Reid off Eagle’s substitutes’ bench proved to be a tactical master stroke as he changed the remainder of the game.
Reid knocked long crosses into the Orford six-yard box and corner after corner was conceded.
From one of Hope’s corners Chinn found the back of the net with a little help from an Orford defender.
With extra time looming Reid was again the provider when he raced on to Topping’s pass and squared the ball for Nathan Williams to score from close range.
Orford were by far the better side for long periods although they did have to fight back themselves in the first half.
Eagle opened the scoring after 25 minutes when Daniels latched on to a long clearance from Sherlock and knocked the ball through the keeper’s legs.
That was against the run of play but a clumsy challenge by Lawson allowed Andy Boyle to equalise from the penalty spot.
Lee Mckenna had then put Orford ahead, netting with a lovely chip after keeper Gaskell’s poor clearance.
