PAUL Carden thinks new signing Lewis Nightingale will much-needed extra creativity to Warrington Town’s attack next season.

The winger was one of two new arrivals announced by Yellows earlier this week, with defender Alex Honeyball being the other.

Nightingale, 27, helped Bamber Bridge to promotion last year and can count Farsley Celtic and Darlington among his former clubs.

“Lewis will score goals and create goals,” Carden said.

“He is the type of player we need as that is a department we were lacking in last season.

“I think we were the lowest scorers in the top nine or 10 sides in our division.

“He’s technically very good and played a big part in what Bamber Bridge achieved last year.

“Lewis is an important signing for us and it’s good to have him on board.”

Honeyball played against Warrington twice for Stalybridge Celtic last season having previously come through the academy at Bolton Wanderers.

The 20-year-old is primarily a left-back but can cover in central defence and midfield and Carden says his versatility will be important.

The Town boss also says Honeyball “ticks all the boxes” and has the potential to play professionally.

“If he adds more aggression to his game, he is a league player all day long,” he said.

“He ticks all the rest of the boxes. Hopefully we can unlock the potential he has.

“For Stalybridge last year, he played in defence against us in one game and midfield in the other.

“We’ve brought him in to play left-back, but to know he can cover in other areas is a big plus for us.”
