Daten 3 Halebank 2

DATEN’S challenge for promotion from Cheshire League One was boosted by Saturday’s 3-2 win over Halebank.

They remain top of the table, two points clear of nearest challengers Egerton.

Despite the visitors largely dominating the first half at Charnock Road, two goals from Daniel Massey ensured the Atoms had a comfortable lead but Halebank reduced the deficit before the interval.

Michael Sullivan made it 3-1 after the break, but the visitors would not go away and pulled another goal back to make for a nervy finish.

However, stand-in goalkeeper Phil Harrison stood tall for the remainder of the game to ensure the three points stayed in Culcheth.

Paul Anderson’s side travel to Lostock Gralam tomorrow, Wednesday, before visiting West Didsbury and Chorlton reserves on Saturday, kick off 3pm.
