WARRINGTON Town narrowed the gap on leaders Altrincham thanks to a 2-0 victory.
Yellows are now seven points adrift of the Robins, who drew 3-3 with Ashton United.
Tony Gray put Paul Carden's side ahead in the 17th minute, while Sean Williams' goal proved to seal the result 11 minutes into the second half.
There was drama still to follow though.
Jamie McDonald's reverse pass paved the way for Gray's strike.
Williams' shot across the keeper was worked for himself, creating space on the edge of the box.
Town then had some defending to do.
Shaun Beeley came to the rescue with an important clearance off the line from Reece King’s goal-bound effort after netminder Luke Pilling was beaten from a free kick.
Hednesford had Joe Fitzpatrick sent off in the 83rd minute for a challenge on William Hayhurst.
Late on Pilling, yellow-carded for timewasting in the closing moments, slipped taking a free kick but a shot aimed at the open goal from halfway sailed wide.
