WARRINGTON Town had too much punch for Mickleover Sports in the second half of today’s Evo-Stik Premier Division clash, heading home from Derby with three more points in the bag.

The Yellows, second in the table to an Altrincham side who are one point ahead, clinched victory at the Don Amott Arena with second-half goals from Sean Williams and Tony Gray.

Brad Barnes had put Town back level five minutes before the interval after Sports had taken a 35th-minute lead courtesy of Evan Garnett.

Town hit the crossbar from a 25-yard rocket shot in the eighth minute.

Both sides had further chances from range before Garnett taps home off a post a squared pass from Andy Dales The hosts failed to clear a short corner five minutes later, allowing Barnes to blast home from close range.

Sports pressed at the start of the second half.

Dales shot wide after beating his marker on the edge of the penalty area.

Then a free kick from Pablo Mills was met by the head of Morris and his looping header hit the bar from the edge of the box.

Williams converted a penalty in the 66th minute to hand Paul Carden’s side a lead they never lost.

Four minutes later the hosts lost Mills to a second yellow card and Town looked in control.

Gray ensured victory for Town with a third goal in the 76th minute.
