WARRINGTON Town will be much-changed for tonight’s Integro League Cup clash at Colwyn Bay, manager Paul Carden says.

Yellows cross the Welsh border for their first round clash this evening, with the game kicking off at 7.45pm.

Goalkeeper Ben Ashcroft is set for his first appearance for Carden’s side, while several players from the club’s reserve team will also make an appearance as well as fringe first-team players.

However, the Yellows boss says the players should use the clash with the Seasiders, who ply their trade in the Evo-Stik First Division North, as a chance to stake a claim for more regular football.

“There will be one or two trialists playing, a good few of the lads from the reserves plus a few guys who have been on the bench for the first team,” he said.

“It will be a good chance for all of them to get some much-needed minutes. It’s important not to neglect those players as they are key for us.

“Even if they are getting 15-20 minutes in games here and there, they are still key because they create that competition for places.

“The lads in front of them know there are people who are ready and good enough to take their places if they don’t perform.”
