WARRINGTON Town boss Paul Carden says both players and staff must "ask themselves questions" to avoid slipping into a poor run of form.

Yellows were hammered 5-1 by Stourbridge at Cantilever Park on Tuesday night, their heaviest defeat under Carden's stewardship

Tuesday’s loss, coupled with a 1-1 draw at lowly Halesowen Town on Saturday, means Yellows have dropped to sixth in the table ahead of today's trip to Rushall Olympic, kick off 3pm.

Following that Yellows welcome Lancaster City to Cantilever Park on Tuesday night, kick off 7.45pm.

Carden is keen to ensure the Stourbridge loss does not derail their season.

“The first thing we ask ourselves is what we can do better as staff and look to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” he said.

“I’m not trying to deflect blame, but there has to be a bit of that from the players as well. They have to look at what they could be doing better.

“Playing okay is not going to get us out of this league.

“Being ‘all right’ isn’t going to cut it. We need to be very good and better than the opposition.”

Yellows met Rushall on the opening day of the season, with goals from Connor Hughes and Joe Mwasile giving Carden's side a 2-0 victory at Cantilever Park.
