VULCAN have won the Warrington and District League’s Jubilee Cup after beating Cronton Villa at Cantilever Park on Saturday.

This means the Newton-based side can add the trophy to the Premier Division title they also won this season.

After putting their opponents, who sit mid-table in the same division, under early pressure, they took an early lead through Craig Ward’s good finish following a corner.

Connor Irving doubled their lead before the break and, despite intense pressure from Cronton in the second half, Vulcan were able to hold on and secure a league and cup double.

The final game of the Warrington and District League season comes tonight, Thursday, in the shape of the Frank Stringer Supplementary Cup.

Junction’s third team, who play in Division Five, will take on Rainhill’s fourths from Division Three for the silverware at Monks Sports Club.
