WARRINGTON Town face a “make or break” weekend as their Evo-Stik Premier Division play-off hopes hang in the balance.

Yellows travel to top-five rivals Whitby Town on Saturday before welcoming Ashton United to Cantilever Park on Monday, both kick offs 3pm.

A defeat in either game is likely to end their chances of a second successive promotion, but manager Paul Carden believes their race is far from run.

“I still feel there are twists and turns to come,” he said.

“Teams around the play-offs have still got to play each other. Somebody has to slip up.

“Points will be dropped and we’ve got to make sure we are there to take advantage.

“It is definitely a make or break weekend for us but we know there are still things that can happen.

“The lads were obviously down after the Stafford game but it is important we pick ourselves up for a busy weekend.

“The only thing we can do is look after ourselves, which is what I’ve been stressing to the lads for many weeks.”

Following a damaging 2-1 home defeat to Stafford Rangers on Saturday, coupled with unfavourable results elsewhere, have seen Yellows drop to 10th in the table.

They are now four points behind Whitby, who occupy the final play-off place, with three games of their season remaining.

With their play-off hopes out of their hands, defeat to the Seasiders on Saturday could see their challenge ended mathematically depending on results for teams around them.
