BURNLEY’S decision not to sign Warrington Town midfielder Dylan Vassallo is “their loss,” Yellows boss Paul Carden says.

The 18-year-old has put in some impressive displays since joining Carden’s side in December and it caught the attention of the Premier League side.

They invited Vassallo for a trial last week with a view to him joining their development squad but deciding against offering him a deal.

However, Carden believes it is only a matter of time before the midfielder is snapped up and claims more Premier League clubs have enquired about him.

“Dylan is definitely a talent. Burnley taking him on trial and not signing him is their loss,” he said.

“We have all seen his ability and talent with the ball, but now we’re starting to see more of what he can do without the ball.

“He is becoming more of an asset to the team on the other side of the game. If he’s going to make a career in football, that’s what he needs to do.

“He’s never been in an academy or a centre of excellence. He’s just a kid with a natural talent for playing football.

“Thankfully, he seems to like playing for me and for the club and he’s been able to settle down a bit here.

“Not getting taken on by Burnley is not the end of the world for him. There have been other big clubs that have asked me about him.

“He will get snapped up by somebody because he is talented enough.”
