WARRINGTON Town boss Paul Carden heaped praise on his side as they emerged victorious from a difficult trip to Sutton Coldfield.

While their hosts may be struggling in the Evo-Stik Premier Division, they have gained some notable results on their home ground such as beating runaway league leaders Blyth Spartans and drawing with second-placed Nantwich Town.

Their artificial surface has proved to be a leveller on occasion, but Dan Hattersley’s second-half winner ensured Warrington did not come a cropper and earned them a 1-0 victory.

“If Ruben Jerome takes his early chance, it’s a different game but as I’ve said before, I’m not bothered if we grind results out,” Carden said.

“We’ve done that again today and it’s another great three points and clean sheet for us.

“If you look at their results against the bigger sides of this league, they have beaten Blyth and drawn with Nantwich which tells its own story.

“The surface was so uneven, you could tell that even just walking on it.

“I wouldn’t want my team playing on that every week. It was impossible to get any tempo going on it.”
