PAUL Carden hailed the performance of his Warrington Town side in their 1-0 victory over Mickleover Sports as “top drawer.”

Ruben Jerome’s goal just after the hour mark propelled Yellows into the Evo-Stik Premier Division play-off places.

After the game, Carden was full of praise for how his side went about the game.

“The performance we put together tonight was top drawer and worthy of the win,” he said.

“The ability we’ve got in the team was evident and it’s all credit to the lads, all of them put a real shift in.

“We knew they would play a 4-4-2, one of the things we have done in dribs and drabs is press in ones and twos but we’ve never really gone as a team.

“We’ve never really shifted as a unit but we’ve worked on it in training last week.

“We keep putting those reminders to the players about how effective it can be and we’ve seen that towards the end.

“That pressure and intent was there, especially after a long journey and a game on a heavy pitch on Saturday, the lads were first class.”
