WARRINGTON Town aim to continue their push for the Evo-Stik Premier Division play-offs when they welcome Mickleover Sports to Cantilever Park tonight, kick off 7.45pm.

Following Saturday’s 2-0 victory over struggling Ilkeston, Yellows sit eighth in the division and just one point behind Spennymoor Town in the final play-off place.

Spennymoor travel to fellow play-off chasers Whitby tonight, while seventh-placed Matlock host Coalville.

Paul Carden’s side will go into a play-off place if they win and those two sides fail to take maximum points.

A LOOK AT THE OPPOSITION:

DEPENDING on how you view it, Mickleover will either be fresher or ring rusty tonight as they play their first game for ten days.

Home games against Whitby and Hednesford have been postponed due to the wet weather during the past week, but the Derbyshire side had been in decent form before that.

They arrive in Cheshire having won three of their last four games, including a 4-0 victory over Town’s play-off rivals Workington.

Mickleover have also taken points from Matlock and Grantham Town in that run and must not be underestimated, especially with former Premier League striker Clinton Morrison among their ranks.

Morrison is in the autumn of his career at 37 years of age, but can boast 37 caps for the Republic of Ireland in a playing career that has taken in the likes of Birmingham City and Crystal Palace.

TOWN’S recent revival was brought to an end in Derbyshire as they failed to make it three victories in a row.

Andy Dales’ effort 10 minutes after half time was enough to seal defeat for Yellows, who were then co-managed by Stuart Mellish and Lee Smith.
