Ilkeston 0 Warrington Town 2
WARRINGTON Town closed to within one point of the Evo-Stik Premier Division play-offs places with victory at struggling Ilkeston.
After Spennymoor Town’s game was postponed and play-off rivals Grantham and Matlock both dropped points, Yellows took their chance to propel themselves back into the promotion race after Tuesday’s 4-1 defeat at Nantwich.
Ilkeston were reduced to ten men after the break after a scoreless first half on a heavy pitch before Ruben Jerome put Paul Carden’s side ahead with his fourth goal in as many games.
Connor McCarthy made the game safe late on with the first goal of his loan spell from AFC Telford.
The result moves Town up to eighth, but they have played four games more than Spennymoor, who occupy the final play-off place.
Yellows return to action on Tuesday when they welcome Mickleover Sports to Cantilever Park, kick off 7.45pm.
Warrington Town: McMillan, Askew, McCarten, Gumbs, Carden, Monaghan, Williams, Ventre, Harries (Vassallo), Hattersley (McCarthy), Jerome. Subs not used: Smart, Codling, Shaw.
