YELLOWS are in action again tonight as a short turnaround sees them travel to promotion-chasing Stourbridge.

Just over 48 hours since beating Halesowen at Cantilever Park, Paul Carden’s side head down the M6 hoping to close the gap to the play-off places even further.

Saturday’s success, given to them by a Dan Hattersley goal on the stroke of half-time, cut the gap to eight points.

REPORT: Yellows 1 Halesowen 0

Carden now faces the task of getting his players fit again in time for a long away trip and replicating what he saw as a good performance on Saturday.

POST-MATCH: Carden on Halesowen win

A LOOK AT THE OPPOSITION:

TOWN travel to face a side who are strong at home, with only leaders Blyth Spartans and second-placed Buxton losing fewer games on their own turf.

The game was due to be played on January 7, but the Glassboys’ superb run to the FA Cup third round caused the clash to be rearranged.

League One side Northampton were beaten at the War Memorial Ground before they eventually fell to League Two outfit Wycombe Wanderers.

However, they have hit a patch of inconsistent league form of late and have lost their last two Evo-Stik Premier Division games to promotion rivals Grantham and Blyth.

ONES TO WATCH:

Stourbridge – Luke Benbow: If Yellows hope for a positive result, they will have to keep the league’s top scorer quiet.

A strong, pacey forward who has spent time at the Glenn Hoddle Academy in Spain, Benbow has struck 21 times for the Glassboys this season and his goals have been crucial in maintaining their promotion push.

Warrington Town – Dan Hattersley: After struggling with injury for so long, Hattersley is showing signs of getting back to his dangerous best.

His two starts since returning to the side have yielded two goals, including Saturday’s winner against Halesowen, and his hold-up play could be what Town need on a tough away trip.

LAST MEETING:

Warrington Town 2 Stourbridge 0

YELLOWS’ first season at the highest level in their history got off to the perfect start on a sunny August day at Cantilever Park.

Both goals came from Danny Ventre in unusual circumstances, with the midfielder’s corner going straight in for the first before a deep free-kick cleared everyone and found the corner for the second.

Justin Richards struck the bar with a penalty for the visitors and Town held on to secure an impressive start.
