WARRINGTON Town have the chance to progress to the semi-finals of the Cheshire Senior Cup tomorrow, Tuesday, as they make the short trip to Witton Albion.

However, with his team in the midst of four games in the space of nine days and with two crucial league games against Halesowen and Stourbridge coming up, Yellows boss Paul Carden may see fit to rotate his squad.

Midfielder Sean Williams and striker Danny Hattersley both returned from injury from the bench in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Workington and both could get more game time at Wincham Park.

Yellows saw off a youthful Tranmere Rovers side in the last round, with goals from John Shaw and Scott Metcalfe giving them a 2-0 victory at Cantilever Park.

A LOOK AT THE OPPOSITION:

Much like Town, the Northwich-based hosts are in the midst of a packed schedule and may make changes to their side.

Carl Macauley’s side are in with a real chance of promotion this season as they sit third in the Evo-Stik First Division South with as many as six games in hand on some of their rivals.

Their record at Wincham Park is a formidable one and they are yet to lose there this season, with higher-ranked sides Boston United, Stalybridge Celtic and Chester failing to register victories there in cup competitions this season.

ONES TO WATCH:

Witton Albion – Tolani Omatola: The 18-year-old striker is on loan at Wincham Park from Tranmere and has been impressive this season, scoring 15 goals in 31 appearances including the winner in a 2-1 win over Belper Town last Tuesday.

Combining raw pace with impressive upper-body strength for such a young player, Omatola has been an ideal foil for Rob Hopley up front in Carl Macauley’s promotion-chasing side.

Warrington Town – Connor McCarthy: While Paul Carden may make changes to his side, the game may present an opportune moment to give Town’s new loan signing some more game time.

Having joined from AFC Telford United last week, McCarthy made his debut in the defeat at Workington on Saturday and, with skipper Ciaran Kilheeney struggling with a knee problem, will provide competition for Ruben Jerome, Sam Ilesanmi and Danny Hattersley up front.

LAST MEETING:

Warrington Town 4 Witton Albion 2, Monday, March 28, 2016:

TOWN survived an early scare on Easter Monday derby day to continue their march towards the Evo-Stik First Division North title.

After Alex Titchiner had given Albion the lead, Ciaran Kilheeney equalised from the spot before the break.

Kilheeney put Town ahead after the interval but Michael Wilson equalised before goals from Daniel O’Donnell and Jay McCarten sealed victory for Yellows.
