WARRINGTON Town boss Paul Carden says his side were made to pay for “little mistakes” in their 2-0 defeat to Blyth Spartans.

Yellows held firm against the free-scoring league leaders for 70 minutes before goals from Luke Armstrong and Dan Maguire brought their five-match unbeaten run to an end.

Speaking after the game, Carden believed his side could have got something from the game but conceded they had lost to the likely champions of the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

“We knew how they would play, they are good with the ball and they are not top of the league for no reason,” he said.

“We’ve probably just been beaten by the team that will win the league.

“If you look at it chance for chance, they’ve cleared two off the line, the keeper made a great save in the first half and Dylan Vassallo has hit the outside of the post.

“We had a plan and we stuck to it, we frustrated them in the first half and we had good chances on the back of that.

“In the second half, we were just a bit sloppy with the ball and lost our shape. Good players pick you off when that happens, we got punished for little mistakes.”
