WARRINGTON Town will be looking to extend their record of not being beaten in 2017 tonight, but they must get past league leaders Blyth Spartans to do so.

Paul Carden’s side are unbeaten in five games in all competitions, winning three of them, and can welcome the Northumberland side to Cantilever Park with renewed confidence.

With only two other Evo-Stik Premier Division fixtures being played tonight, Town can move up to tenth and close to within four points of a play-off spot with a victory.

However, three points for Yellows this evening will be no small feat.

A LOOK AT THE OPPOSITION:

Blyth make the long trip to Cheshire this evening with a chance to extend their lead over second-placed Stourbridge to a massive 10 points.

They arrive on the back of a superb run of form having won their last seven games, scoring 26 goals in the process.

Yellows have kept clean sheets in their four of their last five games, but their defence will come under the sternest of tests this evening against a side that averages 3.7 goals per game in their current winning run.

ONES TO WATCH:

Warrington – Michael Monaghan: The attacking midfielder has been a key part of Town’s recent upturn in form, netting three goals as many games for the club.

Carden has been effervescent in his praise for the 23-year-old, who is already establishing himself as a fan’s favourite.

Blyth – Daniel Maguire: The striker has scored eight goals in his last seven games for Spartans, including a hat-trick in the 3-2 win over promotion rivals Workington on January 2.

Maguire has 15 goals this season, with only Stourbridge’s Luke Benbow ahead of him in the goalscoring charts for the division.

LAST MEETING:

Warrington pulled off what was arguably the standout result of their season in the reverse fixture at Croft Park in October.

Goals from Tom Peers, Scott Metcalfe and Ciaran Kilheeney secured a memorable 3-0 victory for Town, who were then co-managed by Stuart Mellish and Lee Smith.
