TWO of Warrington Town’s long-serving players have left the club.

Striker Ben Deegan and midfielder Scott Metcalfe, who were key men in last season’s promotion-winning campaign in the Evo-Stik First Division North, have moved on from Cantilever Park.

Deegan joined the club in September 2015 having previously played for Nantwich Town, Droylsden and FC United of Manchester among others.

Metcalfe’s stay at the club dates back to 2013 and the former Curzon Ashton winger was part of the club’s historic run to the FA Cup second round in 2014, playing in the 1-0 victory over League Two side Exeter City at Cantilever Park.

The winger briefly left the club in the summer only to return after a couple of weeks, but now he joins Deegan in leaving Paul Carden’s side.

Both players featured for the final time in a Yellows shirt on Tuesday night in the Cheshire Senior Cup victory over Tranmere Rovers, with Metcalfe scoring the second goal in the 2-0 win.
