WARRINGTON Town’s promotion-winning goalkeeper Karl Wills has left the club.

Wills, who was born and raised in Warrington and attended Padgate High School, was in his third season at the club having played a key role in its recent success.

He was the last line of defence when the team reached the Second Round proper of the FA Cup in 2014 and was named in the Evo-Stik First Division North Team of the Year during the title-winning campaign last season.

However, having lost his place in the first team to Tony McMillan, Wills has decided to move on in search of more game time.

“I’ve had some great memories and achievements at the club that will stay with me for a long time,” the 29-year-old posted on Twitter.

“I’m obviously disappointed that I’m not able to carry it on this season and achieve more success with the club, but now is the time to move on to a new challenge.”
