UNDERDOGS Bruche produced a stunning upset in the Intermediate Cup when they brushed aside higher-ranked Earlestown with a 7-2 thrashing.

The Division Five side dominated from start to finish, and a second hat-trick of the year from Mike Carlin helped them to record a 7-2 triumph against opponents who play three levels higher.

Harry Grecian, Richard Keates, Thomas Mellor and an own goal completed the scoring for Bruche.

Meanwhile in the Premier Division Croft continued their fine form with a comfortable 2-0 victory at Haydock.

Adam Jackson smashed home the first from a long throw before setting up Robert Hunt for the second goal after half-time.

They face Avon Athletic, the team immediately behind them in the Premier Division table, in their next match on Saturday.

Division Two saw The Village defeated by a last-minute goal at home to Parklands, with goals from Luke Crompton and Alex Maudsley failing to prevent a 3-2 loss.

The Village reserves faired little better in Division Five despite a goal from substitute Alex Leigh as they were beaten 2-1 at New Street thirds.
