WARRINGTON Town got their first win of pre-season on Saturday as they swept aside Brickfield Athletic in a 5-0 win.

Stuart Mellish’s side, preparing for their first ever season in the Evo-Stik Premier Division, were convincing winners over the Wrexham-based side thanks in part to two goals from striker Steven Gillespie.

New signings Sean Clancey and Andy Nicholson were also on the scoresheet, with defender Jay McCarten also finding the net.

This was Town’s second friendly of pre-season after a 4-0 defeat to League Two outfit Carlisle United last week.

Their next test is a trip to Abbey Hey tomorrow, Tuesday, before travelling to face Rhyl on Saturday.
