CELEBRATIONS of Warrington Sunday Football League's 50th anniversary include presentations to two loyal servants.

Silver hygrometers and pocket watches have been presented to Ken Fleming and John Parker in recognition of their long-term efforts in assisting others to enjoy playing the sport at grassroots level.

Former league treasurer Fleming, due to personal reasons, has now retired from playing an active part in the running of the league.

He was a founder member as a club secretary and player in 1965-66 and was league treasurer for 46 years.

Parker became involved with the league as a referee in 1965.

He joined the committee in 1975 as the referee’s appointment secretary and became league secretary in 1986, a position he still holds along with being chairman up to the present day.

Vice-chairman Pete Newton said: "The league would like to thank Ken and John for their dedicated and professional contribution to the running of the league over all these years."
