WARRINGTON Town head into today’s home clash with struggling Scarborough Athletic in great form.

Last time out in the league at Cantilever Park, a fortnight ago, the Yellows dismantled the best defence in the First Division North when they defeated title rivals Northwich Victoria 4-2 in front of more than 1,000 supporters.

There have been three wins since then; the 5-0 at rock-bottom New Mills last Saturday and a Cheshire FA Senior Cup success over Northwich Manchester Villa in midweek.

And in the previous midweek Town won 2-0 at Brighouse.

All in all, league leaders Town have won 20 and drawn 2 of their last 23 league appearances and remain nine points clear of a Vics side that have five games in hand under new boss Adam Lakeland. Jim Gannon left for the Stockport County job two days after his side lost at Cantilever Park.

Shaun Reid sees it that while Town are keeping the opposition at bay and scoring for fun, they will win matches.

Goalkeeper Karl Wills took his season's tally to 16 clean sheets in midweek, while recent signing Joe Holt seems to be on a mission to catch up his skipper Ciaran Kilheeney in the scoring stakes.

He has a job on his hands, with 'Killer' having notched his 22nd and 23rd of the season in that win at New Mills.

But Holt also netted twice that day and he was man of the match when he struck the winner in midweek.

Reid's men are brimming with confidence and Scarborough, as a team out of form, have a lot to contend with this afternoon.

The visitors are fifth from bottom with 14 losses from 25 games.

If they can halt the Warrington Town express train today, it would be their first win since December 1 and their first on the road since October 24.
