WARRINGTON and District League outfit Orford shocked Cheshire League Rylands on Saturday when they dumped the holders out of the Guardian Cup at Gorsey Lane.
Goals for Liam Mcloughlin, Phil Jones and Liam Moran secured a 4-3 win for Orford, with Kristian Bell, Stephen Latham and Tom Swann on target for the hosts.
Mcloughlin opened the scoring and captain Moran made it 2-0 on 20 minutes, but Rylands struck back to level.
The hosts were piling on the pressure, but it was Orford's Jones who struck next from nearly 40 yards.
Mcloughlin teed up Moran to run 20 yards and calmly place in the far corner to put Orford 4-2 up with 10 minutes remaining before a Rylands consolation.
The only game to beat the weather in Cheshire League One on Saturday saw Daten fall to a 6-3 defeat against Wythenshawe.
Daten found themselves 4-0 down before Jack Hodgkiss replied in the 64th minute.
Dean Jennings netted twice, including from a 20-yard free kick, after another Wythenshawe goal but it was the visitors who had the final say with a long-range effort.
Grange Reserves were 4-0 winners at Halton Borough Thirds in Warrington and District League Division Four.
Goals from Philip Mannion and a long range effort from Mike Rigby were added to in the second half with a superb team goal finished off by Kevin Ferrigan, before the same man completed the scoring from the penalty spot.
In Division Five, Woolston Rovers Reserves went down 5-1 at Liverpool Arms.
The result was always in the balance until the Arms scored their third, in the 80th minute, and went on to a comfortable victory.
