Warrington Town 5 Droylsden 1

IT was raining goals last night at Cantilever Park as Warrington Town put five past 10-man Droylsden.

Scott Metcalfe netted a hat-trick inside 19 first-half minutes after Shanquille Clarke-Adam was sent off, with Ciaran Kilheeney and Nathan Burke also hitting the target.

Brandon Zibaka replied with a consolation for the visitors, but it was Shaun Reid’s men who recorded their ninth win in 10 games.

Town, who scored six on Saturday, moved second in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North as a result.

Clarke-Adam was given his marching orders on nine minutes after hauling down Chris Gahgan in the box, with Metcalfe netting from the spot.

Zibaka thought he had levelled moments later, but after his effort was ruled out for offside it was the Yellows who increased their advantage.

Metcalfe and Burke combined well for the left winger to stroke a second past Droyslden keeper Craig Ellison.

Metcalfe completed his hat-trick soon after, beating Ellison to a long ball over the top and producing a smart finish after flicking the ball over the onrushing keeper.

By 32 minutes it was four for the in-form hosts, with Kilheeney holding off his marker to score against his former club.

Zibaka’s deflected free kick found its way past Warrington keeper Karl Wills after the break, but that was merely a consolation with substitute Chris Lester teeing up Burke for a fifth as Town had the last say.

Reid’s outfit visit Kendal Town on Saturday.

Town: Wills, Brown, McQuade, Ventre, McCarten, O’Donnell, Gahgan (Lester), Burke, Kilheeney (Gillespie), Deegan (Wharton), Metcalfe.
