JACK Keenan struck twice to fire Warrington Schoolboys’ under 13s team to Great Manchester Inter-Association Cup success last Wednesday.

The side, made up of year 7 and 8 pupils representing 10 different Warrington schools, beat their Wirral counterparts 2-1.

“We’ve only been together for 10 months,” said manager Justin Singleton.

“Wirral were previously unbeaten and we'd previously lost to them twice this year.”

A squad including players from Warrington Town, Appleton Boys and Matthiola, as well as one Blackburn Rovers academy player, beat sides from Bolton, Salford, Tameside and Trafford en route to the final.

However, the boys were unable to repeat the trick in the ESFA Cup at Warrington Town’s Cantilever Park last night, Wednesday.

They went down 3-2 to Wirral Schools in a re-run of last week’s final, conceding four minutes from time.

“It wasn’t our day,” added Singleton. “The lads couldn’t give anymore, I’m proud of every single one of them.”

Keenan struck twice for the Warrington side in front of a 200-strong crowd, with man of the match going to Birchwood Community High School's Jacob Rowe.
