EAGLE Sports continue their hunt for silverware on three fronts when they appear in the Warrington and District League Guardian Cup semi finals this weekend.

Rob Hope's side, who face Byrom FC in the Liverpool CFA Challenge Cup Final at the end of the month, host Cheshire League One side Daten Sports at Thornton Road on Saturday.

They will fight for a showdown with either Rylands or Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds, fellow Cheshire League sides who contest the other semi final on Saturday at Gorsey Lane, both games kicking off at 2.30pm.

Eagle, runners up in the Cheshire League top flight for the past two seasons, closed the gap on current Premier Division leaders Knutsford to three points thanks to a 1-0 win at Sandbach United at the weekend.

Victory came courtesy of a late own goal after below-par Eagle dominated the second period.

Rylands go into their semi final after a 3-2 loss at Rudheath Social.

The blues were disappointing, falling behind 2-0 early on.

James Sinker pegged one back on the stroke of half time but the home side restored their cushion before Nathan Clements scored a stoppage-time consolation.

Saturday's opponents Greenalls find themselves in a relegation battle as a 2-1 defeat at Garswood United leaves them only a point ahead of 15th place.

Daten go into the tie on the back of a 2-1 home win against Maine Road Reserves that moves them up to sixth in Division One.

Rob Stewart poked home from close range and Sean Bennett doubled Daten’s lead as the visitors again failed to deal with a corner.

Meanwhile, Moore United and Witton Albion Reserves drew 1-1.

Witton took the lead in the 67th minute and Colin Wilson squeezed home an equaliser from two yards out in the 84th minute.

n FINALISTS became known in two Warrington and District League competitions at the weekend.

It is Winwick who will face Knowsley South in the Rylands Cup Final at Grange Sports Club on Saturday, April 25, kick off 2.30pm, thanks to their 2-0 defeat of Railway Rangers.

Both goals came in extra time, Daryl Jones putting Winwick ahead early in the first period after Matt Inglesby’s shot was fumbled by the keeper.

Inglesby doubled the lead just before the interval after good work from Dan Cunningham.

It will be Winwick's first final appearance for 29 years.

Monks Sports defeated Moorfield Reserves 4-0 to seal their place in the Drinkwater Cup Final at Halton Recreation Club on Thursday, April 16, kick off 6.15pm.

Their opponents will be The Wheaty, 3-1 victors against Parklands.

Meanwhile, Grange Sports responded to their previous week's Northern Cup defeat with a 2-1 win at Newton Athletic in Division One.

Inspired substitutions from a strong bench changed the game, with two quick goals from Aaron Lilford and Alan Dickinson putting Grange into a lead they never lost.
