Eagle Sports 2 Waterloo Dock 0

EAGLE Sports will square up with Byrom FC in the Liverpool County FA Challenge Cup Final.

The Thornton Road outfit secured their place against the Liverpool County Premier League team at Walton Hall Park on Tuesday, April 28, courtesy of a home semi-final defeat of Waterloo Dock on Saturday.

Second-half goals from Danny Nixon and Ged McAllister steered them through.

Eagle’s Neil McDermott made a point-blank stop at the feet of former Rochdale striker Raymond Putterill in an otherwise dull opening 45 minutes.

Renewed vigour from Eagle at the start of the second half paid dividends.

A long throw from James Waldron put McAllister behind the Waterloo centre backs and his lay off was met just inside the area by Nixon, with his left-footed shot finding the bottom corner.

Seven minutes later Lee Boardman held up the ball expertly as Waldron bombed into the area on the overlap. He met Boardman’s lay-off and squared the ball for McAllister to tap in from close range.

Eagle: McDermott, R Bishop, N Williams, Chinn, Shakeshaft, Nixon, Waldron, Hope, L Boardman, McAllister, Quirk. Subs: C Bishop, Burthem, Ellis, Coleman, Maher.

Rylands 2 Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds 2

GREENALLS Padgate St Oswalds twice went in front in Saturday’s Cheshire League Premier Division derby.

Ben Slater stroked in a penalty and they were unlucky not to double their lead when Craig Hoyland crashed a free kick against the bar.

Rylands levelled when Joel Brownhill hit home after Craig Clare had saved his initial shot early in the second stanza.

A clever move between Chris Rogers and Hoyland led to an impressive cross finding the feet of Matt Burgess who smashed the ball home on his first-team debut.

Late on Dave Berry picked out James Daniels, who guided a low header past Clare.

Moore United 2 Irlam Reserves 1

MOORE United climbed further away from the bottom two in Division Two thanks to beating Irlam Reserves.

Ellis picked out the run of Joe Holt, who beat his man, took a touch to get the ball on his right foot and tucked it away to hand Moore the advantage.

With eight minutes remaining of the first half a screamer from Holt struck from outside the box hit the post and went in.

Irlam grabbed a late consolation goal in the 87th minute.
