THREE Guardian Cup semi-finalists are known following the weekend's Warrington and District League action.

Eagle Sports will face Daten Sports in the last four, while Rylands await the winners of the March 14 quarter final between Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds and Vulcan.

Only mid-table Premier Division side Vulcan can prevent Cheshire League domination of the four places.

Eagle went through 4-1 at Monk Sports, Rylands ended the hopes of Croft 3-0 while Daten Sports needed extra time to despatch Division Four underdogs Winwick Athletic, who were down to 10 men from the 56th minute after Matthew Long's dismissal for a second bookable offence.

Joshua Dixon's strike kept Winwick in the hunt after 90 minutes but subs Derrick Okonji (91mins) and Robert Stewart (110mins) built on the opener from Leon Goulden to take the Atoms through.

Eagle were given an early scare in Woolston.

Ryan Bishop's sliced clearance span past stranded keeper Neil McDermott to give Monk Sports an early advantage.

Goals from Jay Waldron and Nathan Williams eased the pressure on the visitors before an Owen Ellis header and Danny Nixon's finish to a 10-man move sealed Eagle's success on a day when they had to work hard for everything they got.

Eagle's attention switches the Liverpool CFA Challenge Cup on Saturday.

They host Waterloo Dock, from the Liverpool Country Premier League, in the competition’s semi final at Eagle Sports Club, kick off 2pm.

Two first-half goals from James Daniels and a fine late strike from Nathan Clements were enough to ensure Rylands’ passage to the Guardian Cup last four.

For the opener, Mike Southern flicked on Ben Brownhill’s near-post cross and Daniels followed in to make sure the ball crossed the line.

Five minutes later, Daniels headed home from a deep corner by Brownhill.

Daniels missed out on a hat-trick when his fierce angled drive struck an upright in the second half.

The tie was sealed when Clements fired home a great strike from the edge of the penalty area after good approach play from Joel Brownhill.

Rylands manager Dave Parr said: “This could have been a tricky game against a hard working and uncompromising opposition on a poor playing surface but we controlled the first half and defended well in the second.”
