DATEN moved up to sixth spot in Cheshire Football League Division One after winning 3-1 at Middlewich Town, ending their eight-game unbeaten run.

The game started in a scrappy fashion with neither side able to put together a decent spell of possession.

Daten took the lead after 14 minutes when Middlewich were caught too high up the pitch.

The ball was squared to Adam Whitty in the box to slide the ball past keeper Martyn East for 1-0.

Middlewich began to enjoy lots more of the ball but were struggling to find inroads behind the Daten defence.

When they did manage to, they weren't able to test the opposition keeper enough.

A long raking ball from left to right from Joe O’Sullivan put Matty Jamieson in behind the full back but his shot went the wrong side of the post.

Middlewich were left stunned on 24 minutes when Daten hit them on the counter again with a similar goal to their first.

Possession was lost on the halfway line and Daten attacked quickly down the left again where Jack Challinor had all the time in the world to strike past East.

Daten seemed happy to sit back and see what their opposition had to offer.

For all their possession Middlewich were still finding it difficult to get through Daten's back line.

Jamieson played a neat one two with Sam O' Sullivan but the keeper was able to turn his shot away.

O’Sullivan then couldn't get enough on a header from a corner which glanced just wide, and Michael Evans then headed against the woodwork from another set piece as Middlewich struggled to find a way through.

Inevitably as Middlewich committed more men forward and began to take more risks they were hit on the counter again with 15 minutes to go.

Daten broke down the right and crossed to the back post where no-one tracked Matt Bush’s run and he diverted his header past East for 3-0.

Middlewich pulled a goal back with five minutes left when an Adam Morris free kick was handled by a player in the wall and Sam O’Sullivan was on hand to convert the penalty to the keeper’s right.
