AWARD-winning Warrington Town could return to action on Saturday bolstered by the inclusion of former Everton prospect Gerard Kinsella.

Shaun Reid’s side were named Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North team of the month following four wins and two draws in January.

They host Droylsden on Saturday, with Reid expected to name Kinsella in his squad after the midfielder’s two-year FA ban for taking a performance-enhancing drug was lifted yesterday, Wednesday.

“Gerard is a top player,” said Reid, who coached the Finch Farm graduate at Plymouth Argyle alongside brother Peter.

“I’m really pleased he has decided to join us, as he could have probably gone to a Football League club. He’s shown loyalty and stuck with us, as we’ve been good to Gerard.

“It will be difficult for him to come straight in and play 90 minutes, but he will be getting some game time as he’s top drawer.

“Whether we can hold onto him for as long as we like, we’ll see. But he’s determined to prove himself.”

The Yellows were beaten 3-1 by Droylsden in November, a week before their FA Cup giant-killing exploits against League Two outfit Exeter City.

“That was during the FA Cup run and seemed to take their focus away from the league,” added Reid.

“I’m looking for my boys to kick off February, although a little later than planned, with a win. We have got to look at winning every game, because we're capable of that."

Unbeaten in 2015, Town’s progress was interrupted this week when games with Spenymoor and New Mills were postponed.

“The games are mounting up and it’s going to be a difficult back end of the season,” explained the former Rochdale midfielder.

“It’s been a weird season for us. With the league games we have missed we’re in a false position.

“If you go and play against Scarborough and beat them, then draw with Northwich and Salford, it proves we are in a false position.

“But we’ve got to win games and we have done that in January. Hopefully we will be sitting here at the end of February with another award.

“The players are the ones winning matches. It’s no coincidence they went on a great run in the FA Cup and broke records last year.”
