Warrington Town Reserves 2 Grappenhall Sports 2
A JODY Lewis penalty save for a Grappenhall side down to 10 men ensured a share of the spoils in Wednesday's JA Walton Challenge Cup Group Three game.
Sports led twice with goals in each half from Jordan Rigby and it was at 2-2 that Adam Rosterne was shown a red card for pushing an opponent in the chest.
Grappenhall felt it was a harsh decision due to earlier leniency from the referee over other incidents.
But with the help of Lewis' penalty save Sports held on to maintain second spot behind Wythenshawe Town with three group games still to play.
Grappenhall manager Darren Davies said: "These games always have incident and there is never anything between the teams.
"First half I thought we were superb. We kept a good shape and were causing mayhem on the break. We should have had a more comfortable lead.
"We started slowly in the second half and didn't break with the same belief. We limited them to little and feel the first goal was a gift and the second unfortunate.
"I'm disappointed to see us go down to 10 again as we did in the home game and the inconsistency is tough to take."
