IN commemorating Warrington Town’s first appearance in the FA Cup first round, their first live match on television and a never-to-be-forgotten success against League Two Exeter City, here’s our favourite 15 lines of summary from BBC co-commentator Robbie Savage during Friday night’s broadcast.

1) All credit to Warrington. They’ve pressed them high, they’ve got amongst them, they’ve won second balls. Delivery on the set-piece was fantastic from Mannix. Great finish from Robinson. Showed great desire at that near post. Robinson made a run from the penalty spot, got across his man, first to the ball. Look at his celebration, how much it means to him – he’s on the telly!

2) That’s great play from the centre forward (Scott Metcalfe). Take the pressure off your team, win a free kick high up the park, very good play. He’s been outstanding so far. We see players in the FA Cup. Matt Smith – who went to Oldham – scored against Liverpool and a couple of years later got a £1m move to Fulham. Players like that can progress. The FA Cup is a great stage.

3) The pitch is cutting up a bit, it’s a bit bobbly, it’s suiting Warrington.

4) That’s a bad tackle (Lewis Field). Studs up, out of control, excessive force. Some referees might give a red card for that. No yellow card for that challenge. That is bizarre. How on earth he’s got away with that one I’ll never know. I wish I was playing today’s football. Field can count himself very lucky there.

5) Eight minutes into the second half you ca see they’re getting tired already Warrington. You get a feel that if Exeter can get the next goal they could go on and win the game.

6) Great save from the goalkeeper (Karl Wills). I think it’s hit him on the inside of the leg, gone through his leg and then been cleared off the line.

7) Whosh! What a tackle (David Mannix)! And I think he’s got cramp now as well. That’s three players with cramp. But what a tackle. That sums up Warrington’s performance tonight, smashing into a tackle.

8) Another great challenge! They’re putting their bodies on the line for the cause for the FA Cup.

9) And you can see the aggression on the manager’s face (Shaun Reid). He’s heading every ball, he’s trying to clear every ball.

10) What they need now with 10 minutes left to play is heart, discipline, desire, spirit and they’ve shown all of that so far.

11) Some of them can’t even walk, they’re exhausted.

12) Absolutely sensational defending back there from every yellow shirt.

13) It’s unbelievable pressure from Exeter and they’re defending for their lives.

14) If they do hang on to win this game you’ve got to say it was the first 15 minutes with the adrenalin, with the high press they put on an Exeter side that didn’t get going.

15) What a game, what an atmosphere, look at them, look what it means to them. The desire shown defensively from every single one of them people in a yellow shirt. Unbelievable. Credit to Exeter who could have got an equaliser but well done to Warrington. Absolutely magnificent. You just wish now you were a player.
