WARRINGTON Town have drawn League Two side Exeter City at home in the FA Cup First Round Proper on the weekend of November 8.

Town manager Shaun Reid, interviewed live both before and after the draw by Mark Chapman on BBC2, seemed pleased with the outcome.

He said: "The chairman promised us a few quid if we get league opposition. The lads will be happy with the draw."

Reid, who once faced Exeter as a player with Rochdale in the FA Cup, will be leading Town into their first ever appearance in the FA Cup First Round Proper.

Town supporters seem happy too ahead of the historic tie.

Ashley Nicholson, on Warrington Guardian's Facebook page, suggested the tie being switched from Cantilever Park in Latchford to rugby league club Warrington Wolves' Halliwell Jones Stadium - where Liverpool Reserves played for two seasons and in 2005 matches in the UEFA Women's Championships were staged.

"Lets get the HJ stadium filled for this FA Cup clash and get it on the tele, WIRES WIRES WIRES," he said.

Yellows have already played seven matches to reach this stage.

They sent out Barton Old Boys, turned over Trafford in the first round qualifying, oldest club in the world Sheffield in the second round qualifying (after a replay), Colwyn Bay in the third round qualifying (again needing a replay) and finally North Ferriby United in the fourth round qualifying on Saturday.

In both of their last wins, the opposition were from two levels above Town.

The Grecians, with five wins from 10 travels this season, are currently placed 10th in League Two and only come into the competition at this stage.

The two-times FA Cup quarter-finalists, the most recent being 1980-81, are managed by former Southampton midfielder Paul Tisdale.

They are already guaranteed prize money of £12,500 from Saturday's win and there will be another £18,000 up for grabs if they can progress once more.
