A TEENAGE footballer from Warrington bagged his first professional goal on Saturday.

George Cooper scored the winner for Crewe Alexandra against Coventry City on his full home debut in League One in front of a 5,058-strong crowd at Gresty Way.

The 17-year-old, making only his second start for the club having appeared three times from the bench, struck a superb free kick in the 32nd minute.

The former Warrington Schoolboys player made his first start in the defeat at Bradford City last week, with his winner ending the Alex’s four game losing streak.

The forward is not the only Warrington youngster in the Crewe squad, with striker Liam O’Neill and midfielder Toby Mullarkey also being snapped up by the academy last year.
